Why we've been so quiet
Because we have been here:
On a more serious note, hello from Paradise (Koh Samui), where we have been over the last week - enjoying the calm before the storm (i.e. the tourist season in Montepulciano).
Unfortunately, in order to make this trip we had to miss the Anteprima del Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, an annual event where all wine producers in the area showcase their latest vintages for everyone to try.
As our Rosso di Montepulciano isn't yet ready to taste, we decided to take the much-needed R&R option and head East for some Asian hospitality, unbelievable food and stunning vistas. We (and our now well-massaged bodies) think we decided well.
If you haven't heard of the Anteprima before, all we can say is it is a must-attend if you are in the Montepulciano area in the month of February. It is a great way to try the wines from a very diverse group of producers, and, in many cases, chat with the owners and winemakers themselves.
This year our consortium of winemakers will show off the 2020 Vino Nobile (which has been awarded 5 stars by the powers that be) and the 2019 Vino Nobile Riserva.
We've comforted ourselves with the thought that we will knock on the doors of our favourite producers and ask for a taste when we get back.
Next post from Bella Italia.
Toodles,
Paari & Niall
